Hey everyone! I know we’re all in a really strange situation at the moment, and many of our lives may never be the same again, but don’t let that stop you from living the best life in your protected cocoons at home.
Today, I’m here to bring you some ideas for what to make while propped up in our cocoons. Some of my top recipes range from breakfast to dinner and include: the ultimate breakfast bowl, the monster mac and cheeseburger, and the bourbon salmon delight. Each one has a special touch to it, and they’re all fairly simple to put together.
Breakfast Bowl
We’ll start with the breakfast bowl. What you’ll need for this is:
- Eggs
- Potatoes
- Colby jack cheese
- Bacon
- Sausage
- bell peppers
- jalapeno
- onion
- tomato
You can add or omit whatever you’d like, but this is the base formula that seems to turn out the best.
First, go ahead and chop up everything included in the recipe and break the eggs into a separate bowl. Once you have everything chopped up, move it over to your pan, which should be preheated on medium-high.
Go ahead and let that sit for a couple of minutes while turning the bacon and stirring the rest of the ingredients. Once the pink is no longer visible in the sausage and the bacon is cooked thoroughly, pour the eggs into the pan.
Stir the eggs in with the rest of the ingredients and let it cook all the way through. Finally, when everything looks done, sprinkle some Colby jack cheese on top and let it melt into the scramble.
Monster Mac and Cheeseburger
Our next recipe can be prepared for lunch or dinner, depending on what you’re in the mood for. The mac and cheeseburger is easily one to satisfy if you are a burger fan.
For this recipe, you’ll want the following ingredients:
- ground beef
- salt
- pepper
- butter
- mac & cheese (your favorite kind)
- bacon
First, make your favorite mac and cheese. Just as your mac and cheese is finished, form two patties from your ground beef with however much salt and pepper you’d like. Make a circular pit in the middle of each patty and insert your mac and cheese into the pit. Close up the pit by topping the patty with the mac and cheese with the other patty, then pinch the sides to close the mac and cheese into a dome.
Preheat your pan on medium-high and put a tablespoon of butter in, letting it completely melt. Once your butter is melted, put your mac and cheeseburger in the pan and let it sit while covered with a pan top.
Make sure to check on the burger while it’s cooking flip it at the four-minute mark. Once flipped, let it sit for another 4-6 minutes. While you’re waiting to flip your burger, prepare some bacon in a pan on the side to top your mac and cheeseburger. Once the burger is ready, top it off with bacon and take a bite. Mac and cheese should ooze out, giving a taste unique to anything else you’ll ever try.
Bourbon Salmon Delight
Our final recipe is the bourbon salmon. This will take the longest of the recipes we’ve gone over so far due to the marinating cycle. The trick to this recipe is to let the bourbon soak into the salmon for a couple of hours to enhance the taste into a sweeter and softer texture.
You’ll need:
- salmon filets
- bourbon
- brown sugar
- soy sauce
- pepper
- butter
- lemon
First, grab a zip-lock bag and fill it with four tablespoons of bourbon and brown sugar, two tablespoons of soy sauce, about a tablespoon of lemon juice, and a pinch of pepper. Next, insert your skinless salmon fillets into the bag of ingredients and let it sit for about two hours.
Once the salmons are marinated, place them onto your preheated pan on medium-high. Cook each side for about four minutes and your sweet bourbon salmon is prepared to eat.
Enjoy!
