Selena is famous for her voice and Tejano music, leading fans to give her the title of
“The Queen of Tejano.”
Selena started her singing career at just nine years old.
Her father formed a family band, Selena y Los Dinos, which traveled across Texas performing and opening for various Tejano bands. Did You Know: Along with singing, Selena was also a fashion designer! Selena Inc. was the name of her boutiques, and she had two locations in Texas.

When she won Female Entertainer at the Tejano Music Awards, she was only 15 years old! Selena is also the first Tejano singer to win a Grammy in the Mexican-American Album category.
After her death, her album Dreaming of You (1995) was released and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Dreaming of You was the first album by a Latina to achieve this goal!

At the 1994 Grammy’s, Selena Live! won the Grammy Award for Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album
At the 2021 Grammy’s, Selena won the Lifetime Achievement Award

Selena was nominated 48 Tejano Music Awards during the years of 1986-2010, winning 44 Awards
Female Vocalist of the Year, Female Entertainer of the Year, Song of the Year, Single of the Year, and so much more!
