April is National Poetry Month, and there are plenty of ways to enjoy and engage with poetry from now till April 30th! Head over to poets.org to subscribe to Poem-a-Day to get a new poem sent to your email inbox daily and to learn more about National Poetry Month events and programming on a national level. Feeling inspired to write your own poetry? National Poetry Writing Month is a yearly event where participants take on the challenge of writing a poem a day for the entire month of April.
The Bell Library has resources and events to help you celebrate National Poetry Month. We invite you to browse the videos and resources in our National Poetry Month Research Guide. You might even want to bookmark the guide page to revisit links throughout the month. The library will also be hosting two poetry events this month: University Authors Day featuring Andrea “Vocab” Sanders on Thursday April 4th at 6:30 pm and a Visual Poetry performance featuring Zoe Elise Ramos on Tuesday April 23rd at 5:30pm. Both events will be held in the 2nd floor space outside of Special Collections & Archives. Finally, we’re premiering a series of video interviews with local Islander poets every week in April on the library’s blog and on the library’s YouTube channel in honor of National Poetry Month.
